Introducing: The Post Nobles

“Summer Toons” - Listen Here

The Post Nobles will be streaming  all over the internet, are on Facebook and are coming to a venue near you.  They are on a spiritual journey to put out the vibe and tickle your brainforests.  The brothers O’Leary from Long IslandNew York started banging pots and pans together in their basement as they were subjected to the constant background music of turn of the millennium alternative rock from the likes of The Strokes and similar bands. As Denis and Kieran graduated from pots and pans to a guitar and drum kit so did the direction of their music. A childhood friend ,Andrew Knox, attended grammar school with Kieran and was shredding his Fender Mustang  on his own.  Together they recorded some lo-fi sounding jams in their basement for the pure enjoyment of it all. Kieran soon found another emerging musician Ricky Berotti who brought his own brand of intense drumbeats to the basement.  The blood and non blood brothers now known as The Post Nobles are on a journey rising from the serfdom of their basement to the minds of new listeners.  The recent self titled new release combines distorted and compressed drums with phat bass lines, phased distorted guitars and reverbed and dramy vocals.  The EP starts with the indie pop track “Summer Toons” which makes you want to lay on a beach and grab a corona or five.  The music quickly deviates to “Voices in the Night” and “Nickel and Dime” which possesses a  psychedelic outro that will invade your brain.   The Post Nobles EP experience has been seen and heard at Arlene’s GroceryCopperfields in Boston, The Bitter End on June 1st  and have also played WZBC and WECB.

Field Mouse’s “Tomorrow Is Yesterday” Video Premieres on SPIN

Watch the video premiere for Field Mouse’s “Tomorrow Is Yesterday” on SPIN!

Field Mouse is a four-piece dream pop band from Brooklyn, NY. Seamlessly interweaving influences from shoegaze, indie, and power pop, Field Mouse offers lush sonic textures and expansive soundscapes to complement the airy, wistful vocals of singer/guitarist Rachel Browne. Through complex and delicate harmonies, the songwriting of Browne and guitarist Andrew Futral breathes new life into common themes of lost love and renewal.

The band has been honing its sound since its formation in 2010, and has solidified its lineup with the recent addition of bassist Danielle DePalma and drummer Geoff Lewit. Their first release on Small Plates Records finds the group realizing its musical vision, incorporating rich synthesizers and feedback to give an edge to its soaring arrangements and pop sensibilities.

Brooklyn’s Field Mouse are recording their first full length album this winter. During the process, they will be self-releasing a few songs. The first, Tomorrow is Yesterday, is an energetic take on melodic early-90s indie rock, with singer-guitarist Rachel Browne’s sweet, wistful vocals over a surge of feedback mixed with dreamy pop.

Introducing: Hani Zahra

Listen to their track “Cannibal Crime (Wait Wait Wait)”

HANI ZAHRA is a five-‐piece band from Brooklyn, NY. Founded in 2012 behind front man Hani Zahra (Vocals), this dynamic group of musicians consists of Jared Dymbort (Lead Guitar), Angelica Olstad (Keyboards/Synth), Adrian Morgan (Bass), and Ilya Kuperman (Drums). Their sound has been categorized as indie psychedelic pop and is unique in their use of keyboards, synthesizers and traditional vocal harmonies.

Following the release of their self-‐titled EP in May of 2012, HANI ZAHRA began writing and recording their first full-‐length album, ALONG THOSE LINES. The album features ten original songs with music and lyrics by lead vocalist Hani Zahra. Released on April 2nd, 2013, ALONG THOSE LINES and its lead single CANNIBAL CRIME has been featured and positively reviewed on numerous music sites and blogs. HANI ZAHRA has recently appeared at Arlene’s Grocery, Cake Shop, Spike Hill, Pianos and The Bowery Electric where they debuted ALONG THOSE LINES to a sell-‐out crowd.

Hani Zahra began writing music more than a decade ago. Before landing in New York, Hani had recorded and performed in states such as Arizona and Tennessee. He wrote and recorded the material for both the HANI ZAHRA EP and ALONG THOSE LINES in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in his studio.

In forming HANI ZAHRA, Hani reached out to Jared Dymbort, a former collaborator, to play lead guitar. They’ve played together in several bands since attending Arizona State University together. Their more recent work includes Hani’s vocal contribution to Jared’s solo single, FAMILY VALUES, and they both appeared in the song’s official music video.

Upon meeting classically trained pianist Angelica Olstad in the spring of 2012, she was invited to join HANI ZAHRA to play keyboards and synthesizers. When she isn’t wrangling four keyboards on stage, Angelica is a piano and yoga instructor. She is the founder of Saltimbique, a multi-‐arts collaborative group that presents classical music in new and experimental ways.

Adrian Morgan and Ilya Kuperman both responded to an online post, seeking musicians for a live band. Adrian Morgan is the proprietor of Timeless Mastering, a Williamsburg mastering studio catering to artists from all over the world. He has worked on records by artists such as The Roots (“Things Fall Apart”), D’Angelo (“Voodoo”), and Jane’s Addiction (‘Three Days DVD”).

Ilya Kuperman is an accomplished percussionist who has played with several bands, including Elliot & The Ghost. He is originally from Austin, Texas and he books music and comedy shows for a variety of New York City venues.

Introducing: Metaform

Video for “In My Mind (I Will Wait)” – Metaform

Metaform (aka Justice Aaron) is not your average producer, he is a one man electronic orchestra. Writing and recording all songs and playing all instruments and beat machines himself, his production knows no boundary. “The Midnight Machine, Act One” is the long awaited first EP in his epic new sci-fi opera trilogy.

What started as a love affair with a piano at age 5 ultimately led to the creation of his 2008 debut, the instrumental opus “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants”. It was considered by many to pickup where DJ Shadow left off with Endtroducing and was highly acclaimed by CMJ and many high profile magazines (Remix, XLR8R, URB). But he did not stop there. Dissatisfied with the limits of electronic music and the “EDM” scene, Metaform transcended genre with the 2010 release “The Electric Mist” by adding his own vocals and lyrics, and more live instrumentation. These additions divided his audience and ushered in a new breed of Metaform fan, and he never looked back.

Since 2006, the California native has lived two conflicting lives: one as an invisible corporate office worker in Tokyo, the other a secretive yet internationally celebrated Electronica producer. From such yin and yang conflict, Metaform reveals from first-hand experience the vulnerable truths of living in a cold and mechanical world (Tokyo) similar to that of an Orwellian science fiction novel. With underground classics like “Electric Eyes” and new works such as “Golden Handcuffs”, written in support of the Occupy movement, Metaform introduces Electronica to the human condition.

Introducing: Lake Isle

Listen to a track off Lake Isle’s upcoming album, Winter Lights:

Steel Rails

Lake Isle takes its name and inspiration from the Yeats’ poem, “The Lake Isle of Innisfree.” We are a ‘band of brothers’, four dedicated musicians who’ve been at it for a while: Mark Dougherty, Shawn Smith (Filthybird/ Citified), Andy Foster (Manamid) Chris Micca (The Malamondos/Little Mascara) and Owen Burd (Eszett/Heralding).

Mark Doughtery played solo out in his hometown of Greensboro, NC, from (2005 to 2009) with his collection of original songs and acoustic guitar until the universe conspired to create a band. In late 2009, Shawn Smith became lead guitarist and helped to develop Lake Isle’s unique sound of post-alternative “dream pop”. Andy Foster, a strong drummer with roots in punk, and Chris Micca who adds a musical heartbeat on the bass guitar and touches of harmonizing vocals filled with 60′s nostalgia. Recently, the band added Owen Burd on trumpet and backing vocals, rounding out their sonic palette.

Lake isle spent the better part of 2012 recording their first full length album, Winter Lights.

The band made tireless work seem like an understatement. Whether investing in rehearsal time, searching for the perfect vintage gear, or plunging into intense song-writing sessions — blood, sweat and tears (and a lot of passion) went into into the crafting of Winter Lights.

Lake Isle felt the result was worthy of recording in a professional studio, which they found in our own backyard in Fidelitorium Studios. Their album has been tended by the hands of excellence: produced by Ted Comerford (Jonas Sees in Color, Colin Healy, Polvo) and mixed by the legendary Mitch Easter (REM, Pavement, Wilco). The result is a ethereal soundscape, with tight harmonies and driving percussion.

The sounds they make blur the acoustic styling of Mojave 3, the lyrical work of Sun Kil Moon and the vocal prowess of Morrissey. Add to that Lake Isle’s blend of lush guitars, expansive harmonies and dreamy atmospherics. Doughterty’s lyrics take inspiration from a mix of observations and experiences, classic literature and the evolution of humanity. Each Lake Isle song climbs and holds at a seemingly endless crescendo, and it’s hard to stand still when the band plays. They buckle the knees of men in their 40’s who start dancing solo in front of the stage.

Winter Lights is set to be regionally released on June 30, 2013.

Hey Anna Releases “Pompette” EP

Listen to “Pompette” on Bandcamp -
http://heyanna.bandcamp.com

Hey Anna“, a blossoming New York area based band, brings you the salty shores of the coasts and the fast-paced excitement of the city. The band came to life when 3 sisters–who’ve been making music together since since before they could eat solid food–met up with two long-time best friends in an overheated 8 by 8 practice room in Newark, NJ. The result: a mixture of intimate vocal harmonies perched atop poppy melodies that meet soaring, atmospheric alt rock. Along with their favorite shirts, the sisters swap lead vocals and instruments, with Anna and Erin Rauch-Sasseen on keyboards/rhythm guitar and Katie on the bass. Completing the band on lead guitar and drums, Andrew Smolin and Matthew Langner energize the outfit with their enduring hooks, restless drive and intricate, foot-stomping rhythms. “The live show makes you want to dance and hug a stranger; usually both at the same time.”
